RFID technology Introduction


The principle of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is non-contact data communication between the reader and the tag to achieve the purpose of identifying the target. RFID applications are very wide, typical applications are supply chain management, personnel management, inventory management, asset tracking, parking lot control, production line automation, material management and so on.

Radio frequency identification technology through radio waves do not contact rapid information exchange and storage technology, through wireless communication combined with data access technology, and then connected to the database system, to achieve non-contact two-way communication, so as to achieve the purpose of identification, for data exchange, series up an extremely complex system. The basic composition of RFID system includes RFID electronic tag, reader and application software, which is an automatic identification system using radio frequency identification technology for data acquisition and transmission.

Under normal circumstances, after the RFID electronic tag enters the electromagnetic field emitted by the reader, the induced current obtained from the antenna is converted into the power supply of the chip through the booster circuit. At the same time, the energy obtained by the induced current is converted into a digital signal through the RF front-end circuit and sent to the logic control circuit for processing. The information that needs to be returned is sent out from the label memory. The logic control circuit sends it back to the RF front end circuit, and finally sends it back to the reader through the antenna.

RFID electronic tag is a data carrier that is used for item identification, has information storage mechanism, can receive the electromagnetic field modulation signal of the reader and return the response signal, usually known as electronic tag, is the hardware body of the RFID system together with the reader, the core component of RFID electronic tag is the tag antenna and tag chip. From the manufacturing process point of view, the complete process of RFID electronic tags includes chip supply, antenna manufacturing, primary packaging (forming Inlay), secondary packaging (composite), and post-channel printing.

RFID reader can realize the reading and writing operation of electronic tag information. RFID readers can be divided into low frequency, high frequency, ultra-high frequency and other different reader products according to the working frequency, and the corresponding frequency band RFID tags are used together. According to the integration mode of read and write module and antenna, it is divided into integrated reader (integrated package of read and write module and antenna) and split reader (separate package of read and write module and antenna, connected by coaxial cable). At present, the most commonly used reader classification on the market is divided into fixed readers and handheld readers according to the portability of use. Fixed reader includes gateway reader, card issuer, cabinet, etc.; Hand-held readers include hand-held machines, wearable readers and so on.
