At the heart of LINKWIN’s award-winning project GM2D Empowers Supply Chain for Cost Reduction, Efficiency Improvement, and Dual Enhancement of Resilience and Transparency is the in-depth application of technical standards from the Global Migration to 2D Barcodes (GM2D) initiative. Rather than simply adopting QR codes, the project established an end-to-end digital supply chain solution with GM2D as its core identification carrier. It targets longstanding challenges in traditional supply chains — including fragmented information, difficult traceability, low efficiency, and slow responsiveness — and delivers two core values:

1. Significant Cost Reduction & Efficiency Improvement

  • Process Automation: Unique GM2D digital identities enable automatic data collection and seamless information flow across the entire value chain — from production, warehousing and logistics to retail and consumers — greatly reducing manual data entry and verification while improving operational efficiency.
  • Precise Inventory Management: Real-time and accurate data on product flow and status help enterprises optimize inventory levels, reduce slow-moving stock, and lower warehousing and capital occupancy costs.
  • Efficient Collaboration: Breaking down information silos between brands, manufacturers, logistics providers and retailers to enable data sharing and business coordination, shortening order response cycles and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.

2. Strengthened Resilience & Transparency

  • Full-Lifecycle Traceability: As a “digital ID card”, GM2D enables end-to-end visibility of products throughout their lifecycle. It supports fast and accurate batch and flow tracing, greatly improving risk response capabilities while protecting consumer safety and corporate reputation.
  • Enhanced Supply Chain Resilience: Transparent data flows allow enterprises to detect potential risks (such as supply disruptions or logistics delays) earlier and make more agile, data-driven decisions, strengthening the supply chain’s ability to withstand uncertainties.
  • Trust & Compliance: Providing tamper-proof records of product distribution to boost consumer confidence in authenticity and origin, while offering reliable technical support for meeting increasingly stringent regulatory traceability requirements.

In implementing the project, LINKWIN not only delivered advanced GM2D coding and scanning hardware along with a powerful data management platform, but also deeply integrated cutting-edge technologies including the Internet of Things and big data analytics to create a tailored, implementable and scalable solution for its client. The project’s successful deployment at a leading enterprise has delivered remarkable economic and management benefits, fully validating the enormous potential of GM2D technology in reshaping modern supply chains.

“We are deeply honored to receive the 2024–2025 ECR Excellent Project Award,” said a Vice President of LINKWIN. “This recognition reflects our team’s relentless efforts in GM2D application and supply chain digital innovation, as well as the real value created by the project. GM2D is more than an upgrade of barcodes — it is the foundation for building smart, resilient and transparent supply chains of the future. LINKWIN will continue to invest in R&D and deepen industry cooperation, aiming to replicate this successful model across more sectors and partner with more enterprises to achieve supply chain excellence and sustainable growth.”

This ECR Excellent Project Award further demonstrates LINKWIN’s technological strength and innovation capabilities in supply chain digitalization. Moving forward, LINKWIN will continue to uphold the philosophy of “LINKWIN — Link for Win-Win Cooperation”, drive supply chain transformation through innovative technologies, and create greater value for global customers.
